Listening to Singletrack’s Tor des Géants preview gave me an idea: make a companion that helps people get to know the course and the field before the race.
I researched, designed and built a companion with a course explorer, athlete profiles and comparisons with American long-distance trail races. Readers can take a guided tour of the route or stop somewhere that catches their attention.
Make the scale easier to understand.
Distance alone does not explain Tor. The race comparisons let readers switch between distance, climbing, climbing per mile and time limit. Familiar races become a useful reference point, with a clear note that the comparison is not a difficulty ranking.
The feature also connects the athlete profiles to the relevant discussion in the podcast and keeps source links close to the details. It gives readers a way to go deeper without making the main page harder to follow.
